PG AIR CANNONS
Rat holes are a phenomenon that frequently occurs inside hoppers or silos with certain materials. Due to the physical and chemical characteristics of the product, the central column of material falls instantly as soon as the silo outlet valve is opened, while the surrounding material remains motionless. Because of these drawbacks and especially for very light materials, a PG type air cannon is often the ideal solution. Other uses are for the corners of polygonal hoppers with tiled discharge cones, where hammering or vibration are not applicable. PG air cannons are also used successfully in cases where bridging is formed.
Functioning
The PG striker, with electro-pneumatic piloting, (pneumatic, on request) almost instantly sends a quantity of high pressure air into the silo or hopper causing the typical effects of an explosion that collapses rat holes or bridges.
